RODENT CONTROL

The brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) is the most common rat species found in the UK and is a serious pest for both homes and businesses. Rats can cause extensive damage by gnawing through electrical cables, pipework, insulation and timber, while their burrowing can undermine buildings, gardens and drainage systems. They are also known to spread harmful diseases, including leptospirosis (Weil's disease), making them a significant public health risk.

Signs You May Have Rats

  • Scratching, scurrying or gnawing noises in walls, ceilings or loft spaces.
  • Dark brown droppings measuring approximately 10–20mm in length.
  • A strong, musty odour caused by rat urine and droppings.
  • Gnaw marks on food packaging, wood, plastic, pipes or electrical cables.
  • Missing or damaged food, particularly pet food, bread, cereals and other stored products.
  • Burrow entrances around gardens, sheds, patios or building foundations.
  • Greasy smear marks along walls, fences or well-used rat runs.
  • Sightings of live or dead rats, particularly at dusk or during the night.

MOUSE CONTROL

House mice are one of the most common pest species found in homes and businesses throughout the UK. They breed rapidly, meaning a small problem can quickly develop into a large infestation. Mice can cause significant damage by gnawing electrical cables, pipework, insulation and stored items, while also contaminating food with their urine and droppings. They are known carriers of harmful bacteria and diseases, posing a risk to public health.

Mice are excellent climbers and can squeeze through gaps as small as 6mm—about the width of a pencil—making it easy for them to gain access to your property.

Signs You May Have Mice

  • Small, dark droppings measuring approximately 3–6mm in length.
  • Scratching or scurrying noises in walls, ceilings or loft spaces.
  • A strong ammonia-like odour caused by mouse urine.
  • Gnaw marks on food packaging, wood, plastic, insulation or electrical cables.
  • Shredded paper, fabric or insulation used as nesting material.
  • Greasy smear marks around pipes, walls and entry points.
  • Sightings of live or dead mice, particularly at night.

Professional Mouse Control

If you've spotted any of these signs, it's important to deal with the problem as soon as possible. At Pestfree Pest Control, we specialise in professional mouse control, proofing and prevention. Our experienced technicians will identify how mice are entering your property, eliminate the infestation and provide long-term solutions to help prevent them from returning.

GREY SQUIRREL CONTROL

Effective Pest Control Solutions by Pestfree Pest Control New

Grey Squirrel Control

The grey squirrel is a non-native species in the UK and is recognised as having a significant impact on the native red squirrel population through the spread of squirrel parapox virus. While they are often seen in parks and gardens, grey squirrels become a serious pest when they gain access to roof spaces, lofts and wall cavities to nest.

Once inside a property, squirrels can be extremely noisy and cause extensive damage by gnawing timber, insulation, pipework and electrical cables. Their constant chewing can even increase the risk of electrical faults and house fires. Nesting materials, urine and droppings can also create unpleasant odours and contaminate loft insulation.

Signs You May Have Grey Squirrels

  • Loud scratching, scampering or chewing noises in the loft, particularly during daylight hours.
  • Visible squirrel activity on your roof or entering through damaged roof tiles, soffits or fascia boards.
  • Gnaw marks on timber, roof timbers, cables or pipework.
  • Damage to insulation and nesting materials in the loft.
  • Squirrel droppings or strong odours in roof spaces.

Professional Grey Squirrel Control

If squirrels have entered your property, it's important to act quickly before further damage occurs. At Pestfree Pest Control, we specialise in professional grey squirrel control, proofing and prevention. Our experienced technicians will safely remove the problem, identify how squirrels are gaining access and carry out effective proofing to help prevent them from returning.
